2012 Winners & Top 10

Don't want to be cynical, but just decided to check where the top 10 acoustic/singer-songwriters were from around Australia... 9 from NSW, 1 from Vic. Couldn't be bothered checking the rest (maybe if anyone has time...). Big congratulations to Rosie Burgess Trio for being the only non NSW band in top 10 acoustic/singer-songwriter. You've gotta wonder... JS

Best chances of winning if ya not from NSW is to enter the Jazz/classical section. Only 7 out of 10 from NSW... Maybe that just reflects the high % from NSW?? Hey M.O?

I flew from San Diego to Sydney to see these awards. It was my understanding that the winners would play. Instead we endured a rather shoddy and offensive production. These are just the musings of the former Department Chair of Theatre Arts at the University of San Diego.

Have to agree with Kathleen. Had a listen to some of the 'top 10', I really question what the judges criteria was as I heard some fantastic bands and individuals that weren't in the top 10, but far better than those that were. JC

Please make this website easier to navigate - it took me two weeks to find these results!! They should be on the home page, and google searchable! Not to mention how hard it is to find other current/ relevant information on this site...

Any one in the top 10 didn't pay the extra to have their songs reviewed??? Just wondering, with so many entrants, whether the judges only really listened to the songs that requested feedback? Mel

I'd really like to know how many 'finalists' were in each section. I was supposedly a finalist in 4 sections yet my name (and many others I met and spoke to) does not appear even in the Top 10. could someone tell me how this works? Surely there is a regulation regarding this. Perhaps every entrant is told they are a finalist? Doesn't seem right to me.

This is not the right comp to be in. The Schoolies section for instance - the girl thst won only entered after closing time. Why.. she shouldnt of won or even be in the comp. How much did her parents pay? She was the contravercial one on xfactor.

This is ridiculous. As Merilyn said, I also know of others who were 'Top 10' in other categories yet do not appear above. These awards have lost so much credibility. There's no promo, or not enough to alert the general public. It's a waste of time to be honest.

I was a finalist for the Urban catagory, and i went to the awards... lost to an artist who is in the like 4 other catagories. I didnt even get any of my feedback that i paid for... these awards are bullshit - for real. Support the real artists out there

I am also sceptical of Musicoz and the real agenda of such an awards event. I am part of a team of supporters of an artist who won one of the categories but was great disappointed that they were no allowed to perform (as promised and as advertised in the conditions of entry section in black and white). Also we were told that the winners would appear via live stream to a massive global audience. Erm, massive ended up being a few hundred if that, via YouTube stream. After we were told of this artists win just after midnight prior to the awards night we questioned the fact that they were not allowed to play and were told a blatant lie to our faces, that that was not in fact part of the prize. What we experienced on the night was a self funded, drunken orgy as food and drink were not offered at any time to any of the winners, artists or other guests by the Musicoz organisers. I for one thought that at the very least some finger food, beer and wine would have been offered to the performers, alas no. Need to rethink some of your provisions for the awards night Musicoz. I am aware of the industry aphorism "the perception of momentum" and Musicoz does provide opportunties for that, but few real opportunties for the artists who submit their works to this event.
